RINGSIDE

Growing up in Chicago’s notorious South Side, two boys dream of boxing greatness. Surrounded by relentless violence and crime, Kenny and Destyne are pushed into the sport by competitive fathers. The youths soon view the gym as a haven from the streets and a prison of regimented, grueling exercise. As boxing becomes their only chance to escaping poverty, Kenny and Destyne chart very different paths towards their shared goal. One moves quickly into the pressure cooker of semi-pro competitions, while the other lands in prison for a petty crime. Filmed over the course of eight years with incredible access and stirring intimacy, Ringside is a complex, emotional portrait of two youths on the brink. Will they make it?
