At one time Shuji Tamura’s Japanese Cinema was a vibrant part of the Fukushima community, but now it stands a shell of what it once was. Shut down 55 years ago due to a changing industry, the 104-year-old theater has remained unchanged. Now 81 and in retirement, Tamura dreams of restoring the theater to its former glory and offers weekly tours hoping to spark a renewed interest in traditional cinema practices.
