LEARNING TO SKATEBOARD IN A WARZONE (IF YOU’RE A GIRL)

Directed by Carol Dysinger

Despite the fall of the Taliban over 17 years ago, Afghanistan is still seen as “one of the worst places to be born a girl.” Most women are discouraged from attending school and not even taught to read. Meet a team of brave Afghan women and men who are defying cultural norms by educating young girls from poor communities as well as providing them with opportunities to bolster their courage and self-esteem via the sport of skateboarding.
